I was on the upper car park level looking north along 31W when I came across the site of the steel girders for the first time. These represent the framing of the 2 stories being added to that building.
The expansion isn't for the adding of additional beds. Rather it is to improve conditions for patient care. Details of that information will be published in good time and it isn't the purpose here.
What got my attention was seeing the steel workers on the girders. I had to pop down to the road level to get a closer look. I had this strange thought that if the guys were to have a mishap, at least they were as close as they could be to medical attention.
I'm not much good with heights even though I worked on roof-tops for 26 years servicing and repairing chimneys. I just hope for the steel workers sake that they complete the girder installation before the worst of the winter weather arrives.
See what the new patient rooms will look like.
